Meet the Pastor
Pastor Ray Jones
Pastor Ray G. Jones, Jr. has served as the founding pastor of Lighthouse Community Baptist Church since the church’s establishment in 2000. Born and raised in the region, Pastor Ray has deep roots in our community where his family have lived for five generations.
As the pastor of Lighthouse, he tailors his preaching to meet the needs of our congregation and our unique ministry context here in Southeastern New England. Consequently, Pastor Ray brings a shepherd’s heart and a profound love of the Scriptures to his preaching, teaching and counseling.
Over the past 24 years, Pastor Ray has been active in our community. His past experience includes serving as a volunteer coach in youth sports, a board member for multiple non-profits and as a suicide prevention counselor. Currently, he volunteers as a chaplain for the Stonington Police Department, a member of the Stonington Outreach Team, the Stonington Prevention Council and the Stonington Juvenile Review Board.
Pastor Ray holds two master’s degrees: a Master of Theology (ThM) in New Testament from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, MA and a Master of Divinity (M-Div) from the former Calvary Baptist Seminary of Lansdale, PA.
Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in New Testament at Ridley College in Melbourne, Australia. Under the supervision of Dr. Brian Rosner, Ray is researching the Relationship of Name and Identity in the Book of Revelation.
Pastor Ray and his wife Lori have been married for over 30 years and are the proud parents of four adult children and one son-in-law, Kara, Kailey (Larry), Krista & Trey.
